RailX - Rail freight made simple

pressRailX welcomed onto latest freight programme

RailX this week has been announced as one of ten organisations to join the third cohort of Freight Innovation Fund Accelerator. In a programme delivered by Connected Places Catapult, the UK government has awarded £1.8 million for 10 small and medium sized enterprises to trial new projects. Projects that have been recognised to drive innovation and decarbonise the freight industry.

The Department of Transport’s Freight Innovation Fund Accelerator Programme, a £7 million Government investment across three years to support the freight sector in deploying AI and automation to improve the way trains, lorries, vans and ships carry parcels and goods.

Paul Bathgate, Co-Founder and CEO explains; “This project will enable RailX customers to track and visualise the movement of their goods from origin to destination in real time, regardless of transport mode.

“In our connected world this information will help to unlock value within the supply chain and provide customers with greater visibility of their goods to aid decision making in support of operations and distribution.”

By funding multiple organisations as they continue to explore innovative solutions will help the government achieve its core mission of getting the country back on track for growth. Chief Executive Officer at Connected Places Catapult, Erika Lewis said; “Building on the success of the Freight Innovation Fund to date, I’m very pleased to welcome a third cohort of high potential innovators onto the Accelerator. This programme gives bespoke support to SME’s, working hand-in-hand with industry as they trial their solutions in real-world environments. By supporting new ideas in freight, we are helping to unlock the sector’s potential to be greener and more efficient.”
